Part 1: Interview the Interviewer
The interview isn’t just for the company to learn about your qualifications. It is an opportunity for you to learn about the company.
Here are some of things I do as a neurodivergent professional when interviewing.
Important Questions To Ask During an Interview
- How does your company measure success for this role?
This answer speaks volumes! It helps you determine how realistic the expectations are if you are hired.
The job description NEVER have all the information you need to make an informed decision.
- What makes your company different from (mention a competitor)?
This questions helps you measure the professionalism of the organization or company. If they are quick to bad mouth or criticize their competition to an interviewee, you get a small glimpse into their work culture.
- Is this role dependent on government funding?
This is a tough, but necessary question. If you have to choose between two jobs, you need to know which one offers more stability.
Research the Company/Organization
Analyze the job description with AI
AI tools like Perplexity can run a comparison of the job description vs. industry standards. This includes learning if the compensation offered is fair compared to workload.
If they are paying under industry standards or if the duties outlined don’t match the role it can be a red flag.
Learn about the company’s or organization’s reputation
After you review the job description, use AI as a tool to shift through the companies websites and identify external mentions of the entities work. It will aggregate reviews, news headlines, projects and philanthropic pursuits.
